What are the benefits of using virtual environments in education?

  1. Some benefits of using virtual environments in education would be very beneficial for those students whose schema would otherwise be lacking in a particular experience. Some students cannot afford to go places and experience things in person but they may be able to observe through virtual environments. Virtual environments also allow for students to test theories that they would have otherwise been unable to do in the classroom.
    Five virtual environments available for classroom use are Edusim that allows students to have a connect whiteboard on their laptop computers for collaborative learning, Programming Land Museum which are virtual museums, geology explorer which is a virtual world which students are the geologists, Virtual cell which is an interactive bio-environment, finally, Second Life which allows students to create and trade virtual property and do individual and group activities.
