  1. To ensure child safety on the web I would make a contract for the students to sign that would first need to be reviewed and signed. It would entail what is to be expected, what is to be done during class, proper web behavior, and sites that should or should not be visited.
Implications of cyber safety for a teacher would be that there are so many sites that seem appropriate and once you click on them they may be inappropriate. Students may try to use sites that are inappropriate such as Facebook or Twitter which can be monitored through land school.

    1. It is important to take some steps to ensure students safety while using the World Wide Web. Teachers should think about creating a class page with links to class appropriate web sites and programs. This way the students will not venture away from appropriate websites. A good resource for this would be www.delicious.com. It is also important that teachers review the websites thoroughly before sending students to those websites. Also you may want to have parents sign a internet form for their child to participate.

    2. As a pre-service teacher, student safety while surfing the web is a major concern. Today, sadly internet crime is at a high, from child predators, to phishing, to identity theft. Students need to be educated about basic safety strategies. Letting student know that they should never post personal information online is the main thing teachers can do to help keep students safe. Last names, age, address etc. should never be posted and they should refrain from communicating with people they do not know online. One thing we as educators can do is to pre-view websites this way you know the material your students will be looking at. Using tools such as Delicious or Ikeepbookmarks to make a list of websites that your students can access is a great idea for teachers. Teachers should also check the history on the classroom computers to see what students have been doing online.

  2. To ensure my students would be safe while visiting sites like WWW. I would educate my students on the dangers of the web. I would also have a list of internet rules. Ending up on a different site once is understandable but doing it a second time would result in not being able to use the internet for at least one week. If the child continues to venture off to different site internet privileges could be lost for the whole school year. (worst case) To implicate this I would have a strict list of websites that they could use. Delicious could help me execute this list or I could save them on my bookmarks on my internet settings.
